More information

The story of the saxophone in New Zealand (a relatively young country) is already quite a long one, with a national saxophone quartet being established as early as the 1960s, and concerto soloists appearing before that. Some of the country’s most highly regarded composers have written for the instrument and new works are emerging almost daily. Saxophonist Michael Jamieson pays homage to the saxophonists and composers who have paved the way for the exciting musical times the saxophone now finds itself in down in the South Pacific.
