World premiere of a new saxophone and piano work by Canadian composer Sean Clarke.

Biography

A native of Calgary, Kristine Gray obtained her BMus degree at the University of Calgary, under the direction of Dr. Jeremy Brown. Kristine is ABD in her DMA in Saxophone Performance through Boston University, under the direction of Kenneth Radnofsky. In addition to performing and teaching, Kristine compiled the 2014 edition of the Royal Conservatory of Music Saxophone exam syllabus with Dr. Jeremy Brown, which will also be published in the United States under The Achievement Program. Calgary native, Lana Henchell, graduated with her Doctoral degree in piano performance from McGill University in 2010. In addition to performing, Lana teaches privately and sessionally at the University of Calgary, adjudicates music festivals and gives masterclasses.

World premiere of Canadian composer Sean Clarke’s new work for saxophone and piano.

Sean Clarke is an active performer and composer currently based in Montréal, Québec. Having previously studied at the University of Calgary and the Royal Northern College of Music, Sean is currently pursuing a doctorate in composition at the Université de Montréal under the direction of Ana Sokolovic. His past teachers have included Peter Lloyd, Michael Cox and Gwen Klassen (flute); as well as Allan Bell, David Eagle and Anthony Gilbert (composition).
He is the recipient of a Joseph-Armand Bombardier Doctoral Scholarship from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council.
