More information
My favourite concert setting is performing in duo with pipe organ. In this setting, I have been performing for many years in Germany, USA, Canada and Italy. Many composers (among others Healey, Bottenberg, Gioia, Watson-Henderson) have dedicated their music to me. For the 17th World Saxophone Congress I have commissioned pieces by German composers from Berlin. I am very happy to have found some interesting and very different composers to write for us. Heiko Kulenkampff is a jazz-piano player and composer who has played pipe-organ himself. I am very honoured that Siegfried Matthus is eager to write a composition for saxophone and organ. He is one of Germany’s most often performed contemporary composers. Last but not least organist, cembalist and composer Armin Thalheim will be writing a Sonatine for our duo. It is a great advantage and contributing to the quality of the works to be living in the same city like these composers in order to discuss and demonstrate all the possibilities and techniques of the saxophone and pipe-organ.
