The Sax-Ensemble, the most prestigious contemporary music group of Spain presents a program including two pieces : Unicornios y Ornitorrincos. (Creation Mundial) by Tomás Marco: Quimeras andConcierto de Cámara nº 3 by Jesus Rueda.

Biography

The Sax-Ensemble group was created in 1987 with the objective of promoting the creation and dissemination of contemporary music. It consists of a flexible chamber group including, as a base, flute, clarinet, violin, cello, saxophone quartet, piano, percussion and electroacoustic music, but which relies, when necessary, on the participation of other wind and string instruments and voice, in many of its performances. In its wide repertoire, together with traditional pieces, we can mainly find pieces by contemporary authors, both Spanish and foreign. In 1997, the Sax-Ensemble received the National Music Award for Interpretation, mainly because of its contribution to Spanish music and in recognition of its ten years of existence at that time.

The Sax-Ensemble is the group most prestigious contemporary music of Spain. He has made 150 world premieres and has recorded 15 CDs and 2 DVDs. It is the first group awarded the National Music Prize in Spain.

This project represents the work of Sax-Ensemble Group is the group of camera that has most contributed to the Spanish music in the last 20 years. Also is the group most saxophone repertoire been created in Europe since 1987, providing a very important contribution to saxophone repertoire in recent decades.
