Fétis Quintet
François-Joseph Fétis was the first director of the Royal Conservatory of Brussels and one of the closest friends of Adolphe Sax. This recently discovered quintet is his only known work for saxophone.
Biography
“The Gades Saxophone Quintet” was one of the most relevant chamerisic groups of Spain, being in consideration that they tried to bring to light the historical and less known repertory of the saxophone. They also could work in quartet or trio, depending on the original instrumentation. Their players have been trained in institutions of some European countries, and carry on some researches of the historical performance of the saxophone literature.

We propose the performance of the 3 Morceaux de Concours pour Ensemble [Quintet] de Saxophones of François-Joseph Fétis, one of Adolphe Sax’s closest friends. This score has recently found out (2014) in the library of the Conservatory of Music of Brussels.
