Accompanied bay the back track Ellipsos Quartet made during their last CD recording, the four musicians would like to invite soloists and students to play Ravel’s Bolero solos with them.

Biography

Ellipsos Quartet is constantly exploring their instrument’s technical and expressive possibilities and seeking for new musical challenges. The Quartet performs original classical works and transcriptions, as well as works from surprisingly different musical styles.

Ellipsos Quartet has performed at various French music festivals, as well as abroad. The quartet is regularly heard at French National Radio programs.

Besides concerts, Ellipsos Quartet is regularly invited to give masterclasses all around the World and organizes its own summer academy.

The Quartet has itself received tuition from Thierry Escaich, Claude Delangle, Paul Meyer and Eric Le Sage at the Paris Conservatory.

Three CD’s have been recorded: Medina, Peer Gynt and Bolero.

More information

The famous Bolero by Maurice Ravel has been arranged by Nicolas Herrouët for great saxophone ensemble and solo saxophone quartet. We recorded this on our last CD, called “Bolero”. Genuin classics label released it in the early 2014. A playback version has been edited from this recording, so that we can perform it live. The soundtrack plays the great saxophone ensemble part while we play the solo sax quartet part.
We’d like here to share the performing of the solo quartet part with soloists and students that will be here for the congress (C. Delangle, V. David, J-D. Michat, N. Prost, O. Murphy, J. Rautiola, P. Portejoie, A. Bornkamp, Habanera Quartet, Morphing Quartet, Zzyzx Quartet, CNSMDP and other conservatories and universities students,…).
The audience will enjoy different interpretations and sounds given by the different artists.
