Happy Birthday Francois Rosse

Proteus Quartet, along with Jean-Michel Goury and Friends Saxophone Ensemble, present a program honouring the 70th birthday of one of the most prolific composers of saxophone music, François Rosse.

Biography

The Proteus Quartet was formed in Paris, France during November of 2011 by Tommy Davis, Holly DeCaigny, Mark Michalak and Michael Morimoto. These four Canadian saxophonists are originally from Saskatchewan, British Columbia, Ontario, and Alberta respectively and met in Paris while they were attending conservatories studying saxophone performance.

Jean-Michel Goury and Friends Saxophone Ensemble is made up of saxophonists from all across the world who were former students of Jean-Michel Goury. The group is made up of students and professionals.
Francois Rosse is a composer, pianist, and improviser. He has written numerous pieces for saxophone, using the various extended techniques available to the instrument.
