FRisax Orchestra featuring Laurent Estoppey Performance
The six saxophone teachers of the Conservatory of Fribourg (Switzerland) brought together no less than forty amateur students to form the FRisax Orchestra.
Biography
FRisax orchestra is a saxophone ensemble made of approximately forty saxophone players of all levels, aged 10 to 65, and their teachers. They all grew up in the Fribourg region, in the French part of Switzerland.
The composer Laurent Estoppey is a musician highly involved in new music. He’s interested in written music of the XXth and XXIst centuries (minimalism, spectralism) as well as in more popular genres such as electro, hip-hop, rock; two worlds he loves to connect. His artistic and research interests are mostly inspired by contemporary arts (visual arts, dance, architecture, literature). Estoppey is very active in the French part of Switzerland as well as in the United States.

Interested in offering a specific repertory corresponding to their region, they choose to present recent works by Swiss saxophonist and composer Laurent Estoppey, including a world premiere written for the Congress.
