Biography
Koplant No is a forward-thinking, cinematic electro-jazz ensemble that fuses intricate compositions and jazz improvisation with electronica, progressive rock, and hip-hop. They are the recipients of a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts and have performed at venues across the country in New York, Chicago, Minneapolis, Washington D.C., St. Louis, and at the University of Illinois for the 2014 North American Saxophone Alliance Biennial Conference. The band features Joel Vanderheyden (tenor saxophone), Brian Lewis Smith (trumpet, laptop, keys), Drew Morton (bass, synth), and special guest, Justin LeDuc (drums, loops). Vanderheyden is a former student of Chris Vadala and Kenneth Tse.

Band members each contribute to the sonic landscape through a mix of acoustic and electronic instruments, layering effects, loops, beats, and improvisation into carefully constructed compositions.
