Winners of Bordeaux’s competition – Andreas Köhazy & Olivier Heldwein

Andreas Köhazy was born in 1996 in Vienna and moved to London at the age of 10, where he started to play the saxophone at “the German School London”. Two years later he moved back to Austria, since then Andreas is studying at “Musikschule Wien” and graduated from a hotel and gastronomy school in 2015.

Olivier Heldwein was born in Vienna in 1995. He graduated from school in 2013 and is know studying Earth Science at the university of Vienna. Olivier also began to play the saxophone at the age of 10 at “Musikschule Wien”.
Through their teacher, Rupert Stelzer, they evolved a passion for contemporary music and chamber music. They founded the saxophone quartet “crazy worriers” and are part of many ensembles of “Musikschule Wien”. Both of them play all saxophones from soprano to baritone and participated several times successfully in the Austrian youth competition “prima la musica”. In 2013 they won the first price at the copetition “Création en scène” of the rencontres saxophones de l’ASAX- an invitation to play at the World Saxophone Congress.

JM Goury & Friends

The JM Goury and friends saxophone ensemble is an international ensemble of actual and former students of the french saxophonist JM Goury.

For over 25 years,Mr Goury has welcomed musicians from around the world (18 nationalities today) to the Boulogne-Billancourt Pôle supérieur/CRR (just outside of Paris).

Inspired directly by the creator of the modern saxophone ensemble Jean-Marie Londeix,this ensemble is comprised of 8 to 16 saxophonist for each piece,composed of the entire family of saxophones,except the contrebass saxophone.

This unusual combination is,above all,a musical tool,rich and varied by timbre and sonorous colour,allows listeners to discover some visions of different musical aesthetics,represented by an abundant repertory of original works composed by composers from many countries.JM Goury’s former students have been prize-winners in international modern music competitions,

obtain national teaching ability and master,doctorat,…Through their teaching engagements,they continue the modern tradition of french saxophone in France and abroad.

Sophie and Jean-Michel Goury focus mainly on the realization and implementation of new and adapted repertoires on the Gaubert-Boehm fingering system.

Composer Rémi Studer worked for a few months with the students to realize this “disconcerting ambulation” ; the musicians are divided in static groups, while the public moves to modify its music perception.
