Xavier Rosselle contributes in numerous creations and shows as a performer, improviser and composer in France and abroad. He cares about all the art forms which allow him to perform with musicians from different world experience and to compose for the theater, puppets and dance.
Regarding the composition of the original soundtrack of Swan (choreographic show created at the Théâtre National de Chaillot, Paris), Xavier Rosselle received the recognition from the French state.
Along with his eclectic career as a musician and composer, Xavier is also an instructor, holder of a school certificate, who is teaching the Saxophone at the C.R.R in Reims.
More information
Musicians like any other artists are researchers. Nowadays, traditional concerts are always welcome, but a lot of new artistic styles are also rising. New shows arise everyday thanks to artists gathering and their researches. New technologies are also a big part of this evolution. In my approach, the place and the space also have to be considered. The starting point can be a place, a text, a theme, or the idea to match two different universes. With improvisation, different ideas and propositions, the show will construct itself.
SAXOPHONE AND DANCE : FROM IMPROVISATION TO COMPOSITION
Conference: Introduction of my career as a saxophonist, improviser and composer with some video extracts from shows and performances. (Eventually a duet with a dancer). (Duration: 30 minutes.)
Master class: Meeting between saxophonists and dancers on how to build a performance with improvisations and exchanges. (Duration: 45 minutes)
Number of participants: 3 student saxophonists (or 2 saxophonists and 1 other instrumentalist) with 3 dancers.
I would like to provide a singular approach of the music and the saxophone by matching them with other artistic areas (dance, theater…). This will bring unusual situations and a different way to work with the instrument and its place in the scenic space. This process needs a whole commitment and a major creativity.
