Saxophone and Friends

Performance of two recently written works for saxophone and marimba ; including a new work by American composer Jesse Jones, and a World Premiere of a work by American composer Braxton Blake.

Biography

Formed in 2005, the RoseWind Duo consists of Scott Herring, percussion and Clifford Leaman, saxophones. They have performed widely across the USA including appearances at many universities including Southern Mississippi, Northwestern, Tennessee, Central Michigan, and others. They also regularly perform at professional conferences including the South Carolina Music Teachers Association Conference and the International Navy Band Saxophone Symposium in Washington, D.C. and the XVI World Saxophone Congress in St. Andrews, Scotland. The duo has toured extensively internationally, performing and teaching in Spain, France, Sweden and China. We propose to perform two recently written works for saxophone and marimba (+others).
The first, by American Composer Jesse Jones for saxophone and Marimba, called Four Scenes. Commissioned by the RoseWind Duo (Clifford Leaman and Scott Herring) this work was premiered in February, 2014. This will be a European Premiere.
The second will be a world premiere by American composer Braxton Blake for Saxophone, Oboe, Marimba and Piano. Blake is often performed in Europe, mod especially Germany. He has proposed a work that utilizes the RoseWind Duo and two additional performers: Aubrey Leaman (piano) and Briana Leaman (oboe).
