A concert and conference of the saxophone ensemble Oct’opus and the composer Karol Beffa. A convivial meeting between the audience, the musicians and the composer.
Biography
Oct’opus is a group formed by ten professional musicians from various French and European colleges of music; united by a passion for saxophone and chamber music. This ensemble invites the audience to discover a different aspect of saxophone through a repertoire of transcriptions and creations.
Oct’opus stood out during several performances, notably at the 2012 World Saxophone Congress in St Andrews, Scotland, at the Selmer-Paris showroom in 2011 and at the FNAPEC (Paris) competition in 2010.
In line with its artistic work, Oct’opus also develop educational projects with music schools and colleges of music. In addition to a professional musician training, the majority of the ensemble members are also music teachers in colleges of Music in France.

The saxophone ensemble – Oct’opus – have invited the renowned composer Karol Beffa (recently awarded at the ‘Victoires de la musique’) to the concert where they will be playing the piece commissioned by the latter. In order to make this moment even more special, the performance will be followed by an informal talk with the composer himself. This concert will end with some refreshments where the audience, the composer and the musicians will be able to meet in a spirit of openness and conviviality.
